Do you mind introducing yourself to those reading?
FRKO BKA FREAKO RICO BKA NIGGA-X BKA FAT KEN BKA THE 29 Y/O TODDLER AND NOW DADDY
Where are you originally from?
HOTLANTA, GA RAISED ON THE EASTSIDE REDAN RD. TO BE EXACT.
What got you interested in Art?
I CANT REMEMBER BUT I KNEW I LOVED IT AFTER I FIRST SEEN BLACK ART IN NIGGAS HOUSES AS A SMALL CHILD.
How long have you been creating?
26 YEARS. EVER SINCE I COULD PEE STANDING UP.
How would you describe your style?
EXPRESSIVE, EXPERIMENTAL, BOLD, AND SOUND.
what’s your go to medium or canvas that you use to create?
ANYTHING THAT MAKES A MARK.
Some of your work seams to be inspired current events, how do you go about incorporating these themes into your work?
I JUST READ FROM ATLEAST 10 SOURCES THEN I TAKE OFF WITH A IDEA. I DID THE SMAE THING IN COLLEGE. I WAS A POLITICAL CARTOONIST FOR THE HILLTOP PAPER AT THE REAL HU.
How has your work evolved over the years?
VERY MUCH SO. ITS WHATS SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN. AS I GAIN KNOWLEGDE MY HAND GETS STRONGER AND MY EYES GET TIGHTER.
So your also a budding rapper how did you come up with your alter ego for rap and what got you interested in making music?
AINT NO ALTER EGO THIS IS REAL RAP. I BEEN RAPPING SINCE 8TH GRADE WHEN I RAPPED AT THE TALENT SHOW AT MILLER GROVE MIDDLE SCHOOL.
Your work has a life of it’s own and even tho there’s isn’t much dialog I connect with characters, are they based off people you know or totally original characters?
IVE MIXED REAL LIFE CHARACTERS WITH MY OWN. ROBERTO THE RAT HAS THE CHARACTER OF MYSELF AND ABOUT 6 OTHER NIGGAS I KNOW.
Can you describe your thought process when you decide what you want to create?
I GO INTO THE ASTROWORLD TO HANG WITH SPIRIT NIGGAS AND COME OUT WITH GOLD.
Who or What are some of your inspirations?
MY WIFE BIYUNKA, MY SON ACE, THE STREETS, AND FINE ART.
What projects/shows are you working on?
REDBULL CULTURE CLASH 8/24, EXHIBIT AT THE ATLANTA CONTEMPORARY ARTS CENTER 8/25, SOLO EXHIBIT IN PHILADELPHIA 9/15, POP UP SHOP IN PHILADELPHIA 9/22, AND A3C FESTIVAL IN OCTOBER. ALSO RELEASING A NEW RAP ALBUM IN DECEMBER.
