I really don’t know what to say about the King. Korey is someone you just need to know, he is everywhere from Standard to El Bar, his always at the party you want to be at, and he always has the latest kicks before you even knew they were selling them [i.e Air Yeezys]. Check out the interview to be more clueless about what he does + enjoy // Interview after the jump
+TUNDE+ // Please can you introduce yourself.
King Alga // I believe in aliens!
+TUNDE+ // um…
King Alga //Just kidding Cory Patton aka King Alga, but the only thing that matters is my social security number.
+TUNDE+ // So how long have you been in Atlanta?
King Alga //I’ve been in Atlanta about 11 months.
+TUNDE+ // Whoa, just 11? I was expecting 3-4 years.
King Alga //I mean I’ve been in the South all my life. I’m originally from Alabama.
+TUNDE+ // What part?
King Alga //Tuscaloosa, AL.
+TUNDE+ // Nice.
+TUNDE+ // So what do you do now?
King Alga //I’m usually at El Bar.
+TUNDE+ // Other than El Bar what projects are you working on?

King Alga //Going to Iraq and helping with the launch of the new Street Local collection.
+TUNDE+ // Iraq, wow. You’re in the military. Why did you join?
King Alga //Alabama is like, I’m not dissing my state, I love my state but there were a couple of options I could have chose to get out and the best option was going into the Military. I don’t regret it at all. I got to see a lot of really really awesome stuff and I got to see a lot of really really terrible stuff so you know it’s a double edged sword.
+TUNDE+ // Damn.
King Alga //Yeah well I’m a man’s man you know. I like talking to guys and being like yeah we went out there and kicked in doors and you know I like that stuff it’s cool to me you know. But I do engineering in the Military and that’s explosives, I like explosives.
+TUNDE+ // Explosives?
King Alga //Yeah Common Engineering we do ID work, land mines stuff like that. Real cool stuff, I’m really into it.
+TUNDE+ // How long have you been in the military?
King Alga //I’ve been in the military for 10 years now but I’ve always had side gigs.

+TUNDE+ //So what else do you do, you mentioned also helping out Street Local.
King Alga //Yes. I’ve basically been able to do other things and Street Local is just one of my avenues. I’m not into music but I do try to help artists get their music out there. I really appreciate music as what I call “really good music” because some music is just garbage, but that’s a lost art and when I do hear good music I try and put people on. There are a lot of good rappers from the Other Side, Grip [Griplyaz], Mums, all those guys I’ve become friends with just because I actually enjoy their music.
+TUNDE+ // Yo thats pretty deep, I wish people took the time to care.
+TUNDE+ // So tell me more about Street Local ya’ll been putting out some pretty dope stuff.
King Alga //Tim Haught, Ryan Ackers, Nene Kissieh, Les Morgan, Myk Pate, and myself
+TUNDE+ // Dope, I can’t wait to meet the other members.

+TUNDE+ // I’m going to ask a few light questions and you just answer them with the best possible answer, no answer is wrong.
+TUNDE+ // Ebony, brunette, blonde, or red?
King Alga //When it comes to girls I’m into equal opportunity. If she’s bad then she’s bad. That’s crazy man, are you serious? Who wouldn’t date any kind of girl or anything. I’m not racist.
+TUNDE+ // I dunno we do live in Atlanta.
King Alga //It’s 2009
+TUNDE+ // Unicorn grass, white horse, or fungus.
King Alga //I don’t know.
King Alga //Weed.
+TUNDE+ // Beer, liquor, or ….
King Alga //You’re actually asking me this question, if I drink liquor?
+TUNDE+ // I don’t know!
King Alga //PBR
King Alga //PBR, Red Stripe, Fat Tire
+TUNDE+ // New York, Atlanta, LA or Chicago?
King Alga //Ok so we’ve sat here and had this interview for about 40 minutes. Where has Street Local been focused the entire time? The city of Atlanta. I would not say New York or LA or Miami. Atlanta. That’s it. That’s what I’ve been saying Street Local is trying to be. We’re trying to get people up here. It ain’t about them people it’s about us. Think about it, every clothing company that came out of the city of Atlanta, I mean Street Local is not the first and I know for a fact that we ain’t going to be the last.
King Alga // The thing is out of everybody that came out of this city, how many people have lasted over 3 years? We’re probably the oldest clothing company in the city, I know we’ve got to be one of the oldest. I know it’s us and Rowdy’s been around for about a year.

+TUNDE+ // Jordans, Dunks, or Alife?
King Alga // I’m going to have to say Alife. I’m kinda half sponsored by Alife. But I like Red Wings. I’m trying to get more into American brands. I don’t really like stuff that’s made in China. I really prefer going to thrift stores and buying brands made in USA.
+TUNDE+ // Nice.
King Alga //That’s what I want, everything made in the USA. We gotta start pushing it. That’s what’s wrong with our country, everything is made outside of the country.
King Alga //There’s no more pride in stuff made in America and that’s what Street Local is. We make you believe in America again. That’s what we wanna do.
King Alga //That’s what people need to understand, we need to be about us, if not there’s not going to be an America. We have to start pushing this.
King Alga //Yeah we don’t just drop tee shirts. A lot of people drop stuff just to drop stuff. I mean for the past 2 – 3 months we’ve been doing some new designs and we drop some new tees on the 7th (of July). I haven’t even got a 5 panel. I’m not going to get a 5 panel, Standard can get a tee shirt we’re just waiting for all this money to come in, we need to get some money and we’d make some really great stuff happen.
King Alga //Cuz it’s like we had them on Tuesday you know the Street Local 5 panel hats and I had people call me and text me asking if they can get one for free and I’m like no we can’t give stuff for free I mean if we give everyone a free hat, what’s that gonna do? You gotta spend money to support.
King Alga //My beef with Atlanta is there’s way too many people. They water down the entire city you know. Everybody got a clothing company you know everybody’s a rapper everybody’s a dancer you know. I met one kid, I’m not going to say his name but he’s like a graphic designer, not really, he’s a rapper, not really, he’s a DJ you know, he’s not really good at any one of those things. You know it’s like I’m an MC, I’m a really good rapper but then somebody goes aw man Cory you’re a really good graffiti artist too but I’m ok and they’re like you should do graffiti too and you know what, I’m a dope graffiti artist and a rapper too.
+TUNDE+ // I really appreciate you sitting down with us and be safe man.
King Alga // I’ll be back in a month
